Favourite book chat of the year.

My favourite book chat book this year is Con-Nerd by Oliver Phommavanh. I loved this book because it was really funny and easy to understand. It had a appropriate length. It was a about a boy called Conner because he was a nerd and their parents where Thai. Conner’s dad died so his mum wants him to work hard and be a doctor when he grow up but in Conner’s mind, he wants to  be a cartoonist when he grows up. Conner gets bullied by the cool kidz because he was really smart and not really sporty. Then the cool kidz makes Conner do their homework and as a reward to teach Conner to be Cool and sporty. And then, Conner became part of the C-Gang with the cool kidz and got a scholarship to a selective high school.

I recommend this book to kids from 8 years old to 11 years old because the words aren’t too hard and really easy to understand. They will also like this book because it is part of the humour section and this book is extremely funny.

Information books

In term 3, we have been doing a review on sone books we read. We needed to look at the information, illustration and the layout of the book. These book was part of the shortlist of the CBCA Book Week Awards. These non fiction books include: Make Believe, Our Birds, Waves, Sorry Day, Bouncing Back and happiness box. My favourite book was the Happiness Box because it was based on a true story and it has really good and realistic illustrations. I also liked the story about the war. But, as much as I loved this book. It still didn’t get first place, it got honourable mention. The winning book for Carey was Make Believe. This book had some amazing optical illusions and they were all illustrated. It has wonderful drawings but I didn’t like the information. It just didn’t hook me in the book. I also loved some other books including bouncing back. This book did not get any awards but I still loved this book because I love animals. The winning book was Sorry Day, which is actually my least favourite one. It had alright drawing but I just didn’t like it. Anyway, I had a great time reading and judging these book. What are your Favourite books?

Mark Wilson Festival

  1. My favourite part of the festival was drawing the pictures with Mark Wilson because he could teach me to get better at drawing with simple techniques. I also really enjoyed the football activity because it is fun and it could also improve your marking skills.
  2. I learnt that in the army, soldiers get really tired so they get thirsty and apparently now, you could get this weird pipe that could get water in your mouth with a swing of a hand. I also learnt to draw a soldier from Mark Wilson step by step.

Whats your favourite Mark Wilson book and why?

Book chat

I love reading fantasy and humour because humour is funny and it makes me laugh. Fantasy is really exciting and it sucks me in and it’s really adventurous. Some examples are: Percy Jackson, Diary of a wimpy kid, David Walliam.

My favourite book chat book this year is girl underground because it is really adventurous and tells a good story and moral.
