Year 6 conference experience

Last Tuesday, all the year 6s from JSK and JSD got together and did lots of activities. It was called Lead Yourself to the Future Day. That day, I experienced lots of thing like good teamwork and stretching myself out of my comfort zone. We had lots of different groups and I was in the yellow one. I believe all the year 6s had a great experience.

We did many fun activities on Tuesday like the newspaper tower challenge, the cup stacking challenge and the planking challenge which is a challenge that which group cold plank for the longest wins. This activity was really fun and tiring but it taught us to persevere and have good teamwork. The planking challenge also taught us to use smart strategies to win and somehow stay the longest. Unfortunately, our group didn’t win but we all get to have icy poles which is good. For the other two challenges, also didn’t win because our group just couldn’t get the strategy right. We were using the dumbest way. It was just like trial and error. Even though our yellow group didn’t win, we still had lots of fun  and taught me lots of lessons. I believe I would remember this day forever.

Favourite book chat of the year.

My favourite book chat book this year is Con-Nerd by Oliver Phommavanh. I loved this book because it was really funny and easy to understand. It had a appropriate length. It was a about a boy called Conner because he was a nerd and their parents where Thai. Conner’s dad died so his mum wants him to work hard and be a doctor when he grow up but in Conner’s mind, he wants to  be a cartoonist when he grows up. Conner gets bullied by the cool kidz because he was really smart and not really sporty. Then the cool kidz makes Conner do their homework and as a reward to teach Conner to be Cool and sporty. And then, Conner became part of the C-Gang with the cool kidz and got a scholarship to a selective high school.

I recommend this book to kids from 8 years old to 11 years old because the words aren’t too hard and really easy to understand. They will also like this book because it is part of the humour section and this book is extremely funny.

First term in Year 5!

The first term in Year 5 was absolutely AMAZING! Every person that I met so far has been GREAT and KIND! The best thing is that the teachers are so kind and supportive. My favourite activity this year is APS! In APS in term 1, we have been doing swimming intensive, bike education and rock climbing. My favourite aps sport in term 1 is rock climbing because it is fun and challenging. I think that I can improve on:

-more creative

-use for imagination

I loved Carey so far. It is amazing!
